Grant Wickes
Vice President of marketing
As vice president of marketing for Wasp Barcode Technologies, Grant Wickes sets the strategic direction and oversees the tactical execution of the company’s marketing programs. Wickes’ marketing and sales experience spans more than two decades, the majority of which has been spent working with small software companies. 
Prior to joining Wasp, Wickes was principal of WickPoint Management Services, where he:
- served as interim marketing executive for various technology companies, including creators of RFID readers, semiconductor test software, and mergers and acquisitions software
- helped craft companies’ differentiated market position and strategic marketing plans
- drove customer-driven product solutions
- created successful outcomes, including acquisition of the RFID company and continued growth for other clients
Previously, Wickes was part of the founding management of EZ Prints, where he served as executive vice president of sales and marketing for the venture capital-funded company. Prior to EZ Prints, Wickes spent 10 years with Micrografx in various executive marketing, sales and business development roles:
- oversaw worldwide license and strategic relationships
- led worldwide marketing, creating a strategic product plan that led to the company’s successful turnaround in the mid-90s
- worked on more than 25 product launches
- developed experience in both direct and indirect sales in the United States, Canada and more than 20 other international markets
Wickes launched his career in marketing and sales with positions at both NBI Canada and London Life Insurance Company.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce, which he received with honors, from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. In addition, Wickes:
- is a certified STARTech Mentor
- has received a certificate from the Caruth Institute’s entrepreneurship program at Southern Methodist University
- is active in local associations including the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), RFID Tribe and Technology Alliance of Dallas (TAD)
