
As president for Wasp Barcode Technologies, Steve Coffman sets the strategic direction of the company. His management experience spans multiple industries, with a particular focus on the challenges of small, growing businesses. Since Coffman took over leadership of Wasp in 2001, the company has tripled its sales and become the trusted source for productivity solutions for small businesses.
Before joining Wasp, Coffman served as president and chief financial officer of Bibbentuckers, a chain of specialty high-end drycleaners. Prior to Bibbentuckers, Coffman was president of Imperial Manufacturing Group, a manufacturer of aircraft components. In this role, he restructured the company to rapidly achieve profitably, acquired two other aircraft component manufacturers and ultimately sold the company to a private equity group.
Coffman launched his career as a small business consultant with Deloitte & Touche, where he gained a strong background in finance, operations, business planning and other facets of small business management. He left the firm to serve as chief financial officer and board member for several small companies.
Thereafter, he launched his own entrepreneurial venture as president and managing principal for Coffman and Associates, a private consulting firm that managed the investment, tax and accounting activities for a prominent Dallas family, among others. Coffman’s firm also served in executive roles for distressed businesses, providing guidance on reorganization, mergers and acquisitions, and positioning for sale. In addition, the company assisted with private equity deals, real estate sales and purchases, and strategic planning.
Coffman earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University and is a certified public accountant. He has served as mayor of Prosper, Texas. Currently, Coffman serves on the Home Rule Charter Committee for Prosper. He is a board member for a local church, as well as an avid golfer.
