  USASBE (US Association for Small Business and Entrepreneur) -  goal of this site and organization is to advance knowledge and foster business development through entrepreneurship education and research

       

Kelsey Group – strategic research and advisory service regarding local advertising including yellow pages, electronic directories and local media. Geared toward slightly larger-sized clients; however, good information for small business that sell locally

  US Census Bureau – home page for detailed US demographics and business sizes.
2002 Economic Census (with employees) - profiles American business every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Details size by employee, payroll and revenue of company that have employees as well as industry segment information.  Great detail of the approximately 6 million US companies that have employees

2001 Economic Census (non-employees) – approximately 18 million other businesses run by individuals who do not employee anyone else


NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses) – the largest advocacy organization representing small and independent businesses. NFIB's purpose is to impact public policy at the state and federal level and be a key business resource for small and independent business in America
